Felt Care |
||||
Here are a few tips on how to care for your felted art: Wiping with a wet washcloth will remove most stains. Should the piece need to be thoroughly cleaned, hand wash the item in luke-warm water with a simple soap (no perfumes or dyes). Wring out and allow to drip dry overnight. Steam or iron to remove wrinkles. Felt loves water. If your felt piece is feeling a bit listless, give it a steam and see it perk back to life! For optimal long-term storage, keep sealed in a plastic bag, especially during Summer months when moths are most likely. Moths do not like light or strong smells. Cedar chips and lavendar are natural and effective moth-repellants. When felt is worn often, you will notice small bunches of loose wool fibers migrate out of the piece and form small "pills." This is common to all wool garments and can be thoguht of as wool's "adolescence." Remove the pills from the item by pulling them off (it will not tear the pieces). The piece will actually become stronger over times as it is worn. For specific concerns, please email: info@harlequinfeltworks.com |
